Putin: West "thrown" Russia and the poorest countries with a grain deal

Speaking at the WEF-2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the deal with Western countries to export grain from Ukraine, in which Russia unblocked the Black Sea ports, turned out to be a hoax. He noted that Western countries put pressure on Russia under the pretext of providing food to the poorest countries, but in the end they deceived both Moscow and the poorest countries. According to the president, the situation with regard to the export of Russian grain is “cunningly done”: although there are no direct restrictions, they are available on freight, which is now being lifted from sanctions. The poorest countries simply did not receive grain, as it went to Europe.

“This is another blatant scam. And it’s not about us. This is a deception of the international community, a deception of partners in Africa, other countries that are in dire need of food. This is just a swindle. A boorish and arrogant attitude towards partners, for the sake of which all this was supposedly done, ”said the president.

“We and the poorest countries were deceived, as people say, they just scammed us,” Vladimir Putin summed up the results of the grain deal.
