The Prosecutor General’s Office said that most business inspections can be canceled forever

The Prosecutor General’s Office refuses to the regulatory authorities to conduct 60% of unscheduled business inspections. Moreover, the department is working to cancel most of the checks forever. This was stated by the Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov during his speech at the Eastern Economic Forum.
“As a result of a consistent and principled approach, the share of prosecutors’ refusals to approve unscheduled inspections this year in the whole country has reached 60%,” said Krasnov (quote according to TASS).
Krasnov also spoke about the effectiveness of the government’s moratorium on business inspections, which reduced administrative pressure on companies. Thus, all planned control measures were stopped in relation to organizations that do not threaten the life and health of citizens.
“Directly, the position of the prosecutor’s office: fewer checks – more benefits for the economy,” Krasnov emphasized. He clarified that at present the Prosecutor General’s Office, together with the Ministry of Economic Development and the government apparatus, is working to cancel most of the inspections of businesses forever.
On March 10, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree imposing a moratorium on scheduled inspections of enterprises until the end of 2022. The document became part of a set of measures proposed by the government to ensure the sustainability of economic development and reduce the burden on businesses in the face of sanctions.
According to the decree, in exceptional cases, inspections are permissible. For example, in case of a threat to life and causing serious harm to the health of citizens, a threat to the defense of the country and the security of the state, as well as in the event of a threat of natural and man-made emergencies. At the same time, control measures must be coordinated with the prosecution authorities. Unscheduled inspections can also be initiated by the President of the Russian Federation.
