President Vladimir Putin visited the “Sunstroke” greenhouse complex in the Stavropol Territory. The President was shown greenhouses for growing tomatoes, a robot for collecting vegetables, as well as a distribution and sorting workshop.

At the enterprise, the president was shown a prototype of a robotic tomato harvester. The artificial intelligence of this robot determines the ripeness of the fruits, and if they are already ripe, the robot collects them. The robot’s capabilities are four times greater than those of a human: per day it can collect 4.5 tons of tomatoes; a person can collect 1.2 tons.

The workers of the complex proposed to Vladimir Putin to launch a tomato festival in the Stavropol Territory, which will lead to an increase in their consumption. The President said that the idea was “wonderful, cool,” but emphasized the need to ensure supply growth. “So that we don’t have to ask our friends from Turkey or other countries to urgently supply us with products,” the president added.

One of the participants in the meeting of the head asked what the president liked more – cucumbers or tomatoes. “It depends on what I’m snacking on,” said Vladimir Putin. “But seriously, it’s both,” he added. At the enterprise, the president was fed soup, meat with buckwheat, vitamin salad and compote.
