Putin signed the law on the prevention of risks in the implementation of foreign investment

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law to prevent risks from foreign investment in companies whose activities are of strategic importance to the state. The corresponding document is published on the official portal of legal information.

The document notes that a company controlled by a foreign investor and which would like to engage in one of the strategic activities will have to agree with the relevant government commission on obtaining a license, certificate or other permit for such activities. If the order is violated, the license may be suspended.

The law directly applies to companies whose activities are of strategic importance for the defense of the country and the security of the state.

In October, the head of state signed a document according to which transactions by unfriendly non-residents in some cases must be approved by the government commission.

“To establish that transactions (operations) entailing directly and (or) indirectly the establishment, change or termination of the rights of possession, use and (or) disposal of more than 1% of shares, shares (deposits) constituting the authorized capital of a Russian credit institution , an insurance organization, a non-state pension fund, a microfinance company … are carried out on the basis of a permit issued by the government commission for monitoring foreign investment in the Russian Federation, ”the document said.
