Putin proposed to build a high-speed highway from Moscow to Donetsk and Lugansk

Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to study the issue of building a high-speed railway line from Moscow to Adler, Donetsk and Lugansk. He stated this during a speech at the opening of traffic along the MCD-3 line.

“If you drag from Moscow to Adler [высокоскоростную железнодорожную магистраль], it will already be ten hours in total on the way. It is a completely different story for those who go to rest in the south. Of course, we need to think about connecting Luhansk and Donetsk here,” he said.

Putin also noted that he would talk with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko about building a high-speed rail line from Moscow to Minsk. “The Minsk direction would be in great demand both by our citizens and by the citizens of Belarus,” the head of state noted.

At the end of June, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev saidthat the government will consider the possibility of building a high-speed railway line Moscow-Minsk. Representative Russian Railways then he explained to Vedomosti that the project was considered as part of the creation of a “global promising high-speed railway corridor” of the HSR Eurasia along the route Moscow – Smolensk – the border with Belarus. He noted that the technical and economic parameters of the project require a comprehensive assessment.
