Putin: Nord Stream 2 is unlikely to be launched

Despite the fact that one line of the Nord Stream gas pipeline remained operational after the incident with the partial destruction of highways, it is unlikely to be launched again, Russian President Vladimir Putin believes. He stressed that it is “not our business”, whether a decision will be made whether to launch the highway or not.

“They (gas pipelines.— “b”) although they did not work, but it was such an element of reliability that in extreme cases they could be turned on. But now there is no such possibility. Although there is one thread still, apparently, in working condition. But the decision is not being made and, apparently, it is unlikely to be made,” the head of state said during a press conference (quote live on the TV channel “Russia 24”).

Yesterday, October 13, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that European countries can no longer buy gas from Russia after leaks on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 highways. Russian authorities qualify incidents on gas pipelines, recorded on September 26, as terrorist acts and sabotage committed by representatives of Western countries. The West denies the accusations of the Russian side and insists on its innocence in what happened.
