Putin limited Gazprom’s obligations to companies from unfriendly countries

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree barring Gazprom from buying gas from the joint venture Wintershall Dea and OMV for more than the price limits set by the government. Corresponding document published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
The decree prohibits Gazprom and its affiliates from fulfilling obligations to foreign companies that commit “unfriendly actions” against the Russian Federation, its citizens and Russian companies.
In particular, Gazprom is prohibited from buying gas and paying for gas production services from a joint venture with OMV and Wintershall Dea at a price higher than that set by the Russian government. The government has 10 days to set the price limit.
Wintershall Dea continues to participate in existing gas production projects in Siberia: the development of the Yuzhno-Russkoye field (the German side has 35%) and blocks 1A and 4A and 5A of the Achimov deposits of the Urengoyskoye field, which the company is developing with Gazprom (where it owns 25 .01% stake).
