Putin instructed to study the issue of construction of the North Siberian Railway

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to consider the possibility of building the North Siberian Railway. The report to the President must be submitted by March 1, 2024.
According to list of instructions, published on the Kremlin website, the government should discuss the construction of the highway together with the authorities of the Kemerovo region, the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN) and Russian Railways (RZD). Vladimir Putin appointed Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Governor of the Kemerovo Region Sergei Tsivilev, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Krasnikov, and General Director of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov as responsible.
The President also instructed to accelerate the formation of plans for the development of infrastructure of the Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberian railways and the West Siberian Railway as part of the third stage of creating the Eastern training ground.
The main work on the second stage of expansion of the Eastern training ground will be completed by Russian Railways in 2024. The second stage is aimed at achieving an increase in carrying capacity at the landfill to 180 million tons. Its cost is now estimated at 1.082 trillion rubles. and involves the construction of 280 facilities by the end of 2025.
