Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to start creating a super-heavy launch vehicle from 2024. This was announced by the General Director of Roskosmos Yuri Borisov. According to him, the development of the rocket may take eight to ten years.
“I have an instruction from the President to create this (super heavy.— “b”) carrier starting next year. God bless. The situation in the country is difficult, there is no money for everything,” Borisov said at the Tsiolkovsky International Film and Space Film Festival in Kaluga (TASS quote).
Also, according to the head of Roskosmos, the president approved the creation of the federal project “Milky Way” to track space debris in orbit. “We have a program, I think it will soon turn into a federal project, because I met with the president and got his consent to develop a federal project called Milky Way. This program provides for tracking, first of all, all space debris,” he said.
Meeting between Vladimir Putin and Yuri Borisov took place April 12 in the Kremlin. During the negotiations, the head of state approved the proposals of Roskosmos on the creation of a new Russian orbital station, and also agreed to establish the Yuri Gagarin Order.
