Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that from 2024 exempts privileged categories of citizens from paying fees for notarization of a power of attorney. The document was published on the official portal legal information.
Previously, the state duty for notarization of powers of attorney for citizens entitled to receive free legal assistance was 200 rubles. Disabled people of the first and second groups, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, Heroes of Russia and Heroes of the Soviet Union, Heroes of Labor, orphans and some other categories of citizens were entitled to benefits.
However, earlier only a part of beneficiaries were exempted from paying duties. Now the norm is valid for all categories of citizens eligible for benefits. The law will enter into force on January 1, 2024.
