Russian President Vladimir Putin said that there are no insurmountable problems or difficulties with the ruble exchange rate. He noted that no one will make any sudden moves in resolving issues with the national currency. The head of state agreed that the decision taken by the Bank of Russia to increase the key rate does indeed constrain the economy, but at the same time reduces inflation.
Answering a question from the moderator at the WEF plenary session about what will happen to the ruble exchange rate, Vladimir Putin said: “Yes, this, of course, is a question that requires painstaking research by the Central Bank and the government of the Russian Federation, the so-called financial authorities. But overall, I don’t think there are any completely insurmountable problems or difficulties here.”
