President Vladimir Putin, during his address to the Federal Assembly, announced plans to gasify the Kamchatka Territory, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Karelia and some other areas using liquefied natural gas (LNG). Vladimir Putin also spoke about the expansion of the social gasification program to horticultural non-profit partnerships (SNT).

The head of state noted that gasification plans include providing fuel to the cities and regions of Yakutia, Buryatia, Khabarovsk, Primorsky, Trans-Baikal Territories, Murmansk and Amur regions, the Jewish Autonomous Region and Karelia.

Previously, the conditions of the gasification program provided for the laying of gas distribution networks to the borders of the SNT territory, and within the partnerships, their participants themselves had to install distribution networks to their sites. Separately, the president noted that the authorities are helping benefit categories, including the families of participants in the military operation, with the supply of gas to areas.

In November 2022 the government approved a resolution according to which the social gasification program becomes unlimited. It establishes that kindergartens, schools, hospitals and other social facilities located in gasified settlements must be connected to distribution networks free of charge, including gas supply directly to buildings. Also, according to the resolution, from March 1, 2023, the program for additional gasification of citizens’ households became indefinite.

As of January 1, 2023, the gasification level in Russia was 73%. Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov said that by the end of 2024 the figure should be about 74.7%. It is expected that by the end of 2025 the level of gasification in Russian regions will reach 75%.
