Putin allowed Bonum Capital to deal with stakes in Gazprom, Lukoil and Norilsk Nickel

Russian President Vladimir Putin allowed the Cypriot company Bonum Capital to make transactions with minority stakes in Gazprom, Lukoil, Norilsk Nickel and Inter RAO UES. The order was published on website legal information.
The document states that the foreign company Bonum Capital Ltd owns 24,186,128 ordinary shares of PJSC Gazprom, 10 thousand ordinary shares of PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, 1,312,900 ordinary shares of PJSC Inter RAO UES, 30,530 ordinary shares shares of PJSC NK Lukoil. According to the order, a foreign company can carry out all types of transactions entailing the establishment, modification, termination or encumbrance of rights of ownership, use and disposal.
Last August, Vladimir Putin signed Decree “On the application of special economic measures in the financial and fuel and energy sectors.” The document introduced temporary restrictions on transactions with foreign persons from unfriendly countries with shares of Russian companies. Such transactions can only be made on the basis of a special decision of the president.
Last November the company hit on the US sanctions list. Then Washington considered that she was related to Suleiman Kerimov, who has been under American sanctions since 2018. The November sanctions list also included members of Mr. Kerimov’s family, several companies and eight aircraft.
