Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg does not accept or dispatch flights due to weather conditions, reported North-Western Transport Prosecutor’s Office. According to her, 18 aircraft flying to St. Petersburg were sent to alternate airfields.
In particular, flights to Yekaterinburg, Moscow, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhnevartovsk, Novosibirsk, Perm, Surgut, Ufa and Chelyabinsk were delayed for departure from Pulkovo. The prosecutor’s office said it took control of the rights of passengers, providing them with food and hotel accommodation.
In St. Petersburg, a yellow weather alert level is in effect until 13:00 due to strong winds of up to 15–18 m/s and ice, with wet snow possible in places. City residents were warned about worsening weather conditions yesterday, January 22. In the evening, due to snowfall at alternate airfields redirected nine flights.
