The cost of home Internet in Russia in 2024 may increase by 10–15%, according to a survey of top managers of the largest Russian Internet providers conducted by TelecomDaily. According to market participants, the main reason for the increase in cost will be the increase in the cost of purchasing equipment, which has become more expensive due to the departure of many foreign vendors.
According to the survey results, which cite “News”, 82% of respondents warned about a price increase next year. 43% of top managers of the largest Russian Internet providers expect growth of 10–15%, 13% say an increase of 16% or higher. 26% of respondents estimated the growth rate at 3–9%, 18% of companies expect tariffs to remain unchanged. At the same time, none of the survey participants announced a possible reduction in tariffs, TelecomDaily emphasized.
77% of provider executives cited rising costs as the reason for the increase in communication prices. The main factor, according to their assessment, will be the increase in the cost of equipment due to sanctions. Second place in the list of possible reasons is occupied by the general deterioration of the situation in the Russian economy, due not only to sanctions, but also to the departure of Western vendors from Russia. Among the problems, 40% of respondents also noted a shortage of qualified personnel, 25% – difficulties with cross-border payments and logistics.
At the same time, the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Ministry of Digital Development told Izvestia that they do not see any prerequisites for an increase in Internet prices. These departments have not yet received any complaints about price increases. “If violations are suspected, an inspection is carried out promptly. At the moment, the Ministry of Digital Development does not record such complaints,” said a representative of the ministry.
