Russian and Ukrainian journalist, member of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights under the President of Russia Kirill Vyshinsky appointed editor-in-chief of Sputnik radio. Previously, Mr. Vyshinsky served as executive director of the Rossiya Segodnya media group.

Kirill Vyshinsky was born on February 9, 1967 in Dnepropetrovsk. From 2006 to 2014 he was VGTRK’s own correspondent in Ukraine. Until 2018, he held the position of chief editor of the RIA Novosti Ukraine agency.

In May 2018, Kirill Vyshinsky was detained by the Security Service of Ukraine on charges of high treason (up to 15 years in prison). By decision of the Kherson City Court was arrested. The journalist himself considers himself innocent. According to the Ukrainian side, he conducted subversive information activities against Ukraine. In September 2019, as a result of an exchange of detainees and convicts between Russia and Ukraine, Kirill Vyshinsky arrived to Moscow.
