Prices for coking coal in Russia increased by 24%

Coking coal concentrate on the Russian market in the first week of April rose by an average of 24% compared to March to 7,000–15,000 rubles/t (depending on grade) excluding VAT on the FCA basis (“loading on the seller’s transport at the specified location” ). This follows from data from the industry agency Metals & Mining Intelligence (MMI).

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Yevtukhov told Vedomosti on March 20 that the ministry had warned the FAS about an expected increase in coking coal prices, which would follow the growth of world quotations. The official then said that the increase in the price of coal on the Russian market at the beginning of the year “was insignificant”, and now “coal miners are promising a rise in the price of coking coal by more than 40%.”
