Canned fish from mackerel in Russia has risen in price by 22% over the year, and from saury – by 20%. About it writes Agency “Prime” with reference to the data of the company “Evotor”, based on the average prices of actual sales in February of canned fish in non-chain retail. For the assessment, data on 800,000 smart terminals in the regions of the Russian Federation were used.

At the same time, canned food with tuna rose in price by 19%, sprat – by 14%, sprat rose in price by 10%. It is specified that in February the cost of canned mackerel on average amounted to 171 rubles. for 350 g, from saury and tuna – 224 rubles. and 261 rubles, and the average cost of canned sprats is 247 rubles. Sprat in tomato sauce cost 115 rubles.

At the same time, the cost of canned food did not increase so much over the month. In particular, the average price for mackerel in February increased by 3%, for saury – by 1%, tuna went up by 2%, and sprats – by 4%.

According to the chairman of the Fish Union Alexander Panin, the growth in the cost of canned food is associated with the growth of tin for the production of cans. He noted that the share of cans and lids in the cost of canned food reaches 35-37%.

At the same time, the cost of canned saury was affected by the decline in the volume of fish caught worldwide “for biological reasons”, as a result of which it became scarce and therefore more expensive. For example, saury is not currently mined in Russia at all, Panin added.

According to Evotor, the average sales of canned food in non-chain retail in Russia in February decreased by 2% compared to last year. Sales fell the most in St. Petersburg (-14%), Privolzhsky (-10%) and Northwestern (-4%) districts. At the same time, in the Far East, sales increased by 9% compared to last year, in Siberia – by 4%, and in the Central District – by 2%. In Moscow, sales increased by 5%.
