Positive Technologies: demand significantly exceeds supply in the Russian cybersecurity market

Against the backdrop of the departure of foreign vendors, the Russian IT market faced a shortage of cybersecurity solutions in some areas, Alexey Novikov, director of the Positive Technologies security expert center, said during the conference “Technologies in new conditions: how the Russian IT sector sees its future”organized by Kommersant Publishing House.

“We see that the amount of demand in the market significantly exceeds the supply that the industry can provide in terms of cybersecurity. There are certain areas in which, after the departure of foreign vendors, there are practically no solutions left. Many began to invest in them, for example, firewalls, protection of cloud technologies. From the digital point of view, everyone is moving towards these technologies, but there is no protection,” said Mr. Novikov.

How previously wrote “b”, due to the departure of the largest Western providers of cybersecurity solutions among Russian companies, the demand for Chinese solutions has increased. According to the K2Tech integrator, if until 2022 only 5% of respondents used Chinese information security solutions, now 60% plan to replace the products of departed Western vendors with them. Most Russian companies are interested in firewalls.

The rate of cyberattacks on the infrastructure of Russian companies per year is seriously grew. According to cybersecurity experts, it now takes attackers an average of only four to seven days to crack, while previously it could take months for all stages of the attack. Experts attribute this to the proliferation of easy-to-use malware on the darknet and warn that this year, attack techniques will only get easier and more widespread.
