Ozempic and Wegovy contain the same active element, semaglutide. At the same time, Wegovy received approval from US regulators only in 2021, and Ozempic was approved back in 2017. Moreover, Wegovy is prescribed to American patients to combat obesity, while Ozempic can only be prescribed to diabetics.
