The G7 countries cannot reach a consensus on changing the price limit for Russian oil, reports Politico referring to unnamed diplomats. According to the publication, some European Union (EU) countries, including Poland and Estonia, support Ukraine’s demand to reduce the price flow.
“According to diplomats, now the G7 does not agree to change the price (for Russian oil.— “b”),” writes Politico.
From December 5, 2022 EU, G7 countries and Australia introduced the price ceiling for offshore deliveries of Russian oil is $60 per barrel. It was planned to revise the ceiling in mid-January. Prime Minister of Estonia urged to its reduction.
Last week, a coalition of Western countries agreed introduction of two price ceilings for Russian oil products. One is for products that are traded at a premium to oil (diesel fuel, gas oil), the second is for products that are traded at a discount to oil (fuel oil). According to the Helsinki Center for Energy and Clean Air Research, capping oil prices manages Russia at $172 million a day.
