PERN, the operator of the Polish section of the Druzhba oil pipeline, reported that the technical service restored the damaged section of the pipeline to full operation on the evening of August 7. Oil pumping has been resumed.
“PERN technical services restored the damaged pipeline to full functionality on Monday evening. Now the main focus of the company will be on clearing the territory and bringing it into proper condition. PERN’s environmental services, along with a specialized reclamation company, remain on site. A commission has been created to find out the reasons that led to the leak, ”the message says.
On the evening of August 5, PERN automation systems fixed depressurization of the Druzhba pipeline in the Khodech area on one of the two lines of the western section, through which oil enters Germany. The run through it was stopped. The second line of the oil pipeline functioned normally.
Druzhba is the world’s largest system of main oil pipelines. The oil pipeline runs from Almetyevsk to Bryansk, after which it is divided into two branches – northern and southern. The first passes through the territory of Belarus, Poland, Germany, Latvia and Lithuania. The southern branch goes through the territory of Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Croatia.
The northern line is under EU sanctions. Oil from Kazakhstan is pumped through it instead of Russian. It is expected that in August 100,000 tons of oil will be delivered to Germany.
