Peskov: setting a ceiling on oil prices will destabilize the market

We simply will not cooperate with them on oil on such non-market principles,” Mr. Peskov said during a press conference.
The spokesman noted that in the case of the introduction of a “ceiling” of prices, oil will go in alternative directions to those countries that operate on market conditions. According to him, there are “much more such countries than the previous ones,” but Mr. Peskov did not specify which countries he was talking about.
The measures taken by European leaders, according to Dmitry Peskov, had a negative impact on the European countries themselves. “The anti-Russian measures taken have led to a very, very deep crisis, to a situation where Europeans, and in many respects from the United States, are buying liquefied gas for crazy, completely unjustified money, US companies are getting richer, and European taxpayers are getting poorer,” he said.
The Kremlin spokesman also said that Moscow is “calculating all options” for the development of events in the Russian market after the introduction of such restrictions. According to him, at the moment it can be said for sure that “the adoption of such a decision will lead to a significant destabilization of the oil markets.”
Meanwhile, the Financial Times, citing sources reportedthat the finance ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) countries intend to impose price restrictions on Russian oil from December 5, on oil products from Russia – from February 5, 2023. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen statedthat it is also necessary to set a price limit for pipeline gas.
