Peskov: Russian experts will react to the decision of the court in The Hague on the payment of $ 5 billion to Naftogaz

Russian experts will analyze the decision of the court in The Hague to recover compensation from Russia in favor of the Ukrainian company Naftogaz in the amount of $5 billion, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president, said during a press call.

“Indeed, this lawsuit took place. She’s not new. The solution, however, is new. It needs to be analysed. And our specialists who are engaged in protecting our rights in this matter will now analyze and decide on further actions,” said Dmitry Peskov.

Earlier today, April 13, the Ukrainian side informedthat the Arbitration Tribunal at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague demanded that Russia pay compensation to Naftogaz in the amount of $5 billion due to the loss of assets in Crimea. In addition, Moscow must compensate for the costs of arbitration proceedings. The decision in favor of Kyiv was made back in 2019, the second stage of arbitration proceedings concerned the amount of compensation. The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation announced the non-recognition of the decision of the Arbitration Court.
