Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on the limitation of prices for Russian oil agreed by Western countries. It came into force from today, December 5, the price is set at $60 per barrel.
“The decision (on retaliatory measures by Russia.— “b”) is being prepared, but, of course, one thing is obvious here. We will not recognize any ceilings,” the Kremlin spokesman said during a press call. What will be the response, he did not specify.
Mr. Peskov believes that restrictions from the West will lead to destabilization of world energy markets, and the price of Russian oil will change. “One thing is obvious and indisputable: the adoption of these decisions is a step towards destabilizing the world energy markets,” he is convinced.
From December 5, entered into force an embargo on oil supplies from the Russian Federation to the European Union (EU), and from that day on, a price ceiling was introduced for it by the EU countries, the G7 and Australia. Raw materials more expensive than the established price bar cannot be insured and transported. Due to reduced supplies to the EU, Russia has redirected exports to other markets, with China and India being the biggest buyers.
