Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the Bloomberg publication, which spoke of the unwillingness of Chinese President Xi Jinping to increase Russian gas supplies. He called this information “unqualified stuffing” and stated that “the reality is completely different.”

Dmitry Peskov drew attention to the fact that yesterday, March 21, just on the day of the talks between Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, Gazprom announced a record in gas supplies from Russia to China. In addition, the press secretary stressed that during the negotiations, the heads of the two states agreed on almost all parameters for the construction of the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline. “Therefore, the plans concern the further expansion of cooperation in this area,” he assured.

According to Bloomberg, during a visit to Moscow, Xi Jinping abstained from proposals regarding the growth of purchases of Russian gas, since the Chinese side is concerned about ensuring the diversity of energy suppliers. The agency also pointed out that the head of the People’s Republic of China did not give either “explicit consent” or “even a hint” to progress on the construction and operation of the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline.
