The personnel shortage in the Russian gambling business has reached 15%, writes RBC with reference to data from the Association of Entertainment and Event Tourism Operators (AIRIS, unites all legal gambling zones in the Russian Federation). Basically, casinos are experiencing a shortage of highly specialized specialists – croupiers, dealers, inspectors, slot hall attendants, as well as guest service specialists (waiters, bartenders, hostesses).
AIRIS notes that the projected personnel shortage is 1.5 thousand employees (26%). This forecast is associated with the expansion of a large number of gambling zones. For example, Krasnaya Polyana will need at least 750 employees in the next two years due to the construction of the new Epicenter of Entertainment space.
A representative of the Shambhala casino, which operates in Yantannaya and Primorye, told RBC that currently 23% of vacancies are available in the company’s staff at Yantara. The main shortage of the Shambhala branch is among croupiers and restaurant service employees. In the company’s branch in Primorye, 7% of vacancies are available; in this area there are not enough waiters, bartenders and kitchen workers.
According to the head of AIRIS, Dmitry Anfinogenov, the personnel shortage is due to the infrastructural expansion of the zones, as well as a significant increase in guests. The data he provided shows that by the end of 2023, the audience of gambling zones in Russia increased by 16% compared to 2022 and reached a record 1.5 million people.
Another factor in the personnel shortage, as Mr. Anfinogenov said, was the remoteness of gambling zones from large cities. Most often, gambling clusters are located in sparsely populated areas far from regional centers, which complicates the selection of personnel and the organization of working conditions.
