Passenger car sales in Russia increased by 62% in January – Kommersant

In January, almost 80 thousand passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 62% more than in the same period a year earlier, follows from the data Ministry of Industry and Trade. Sales of cars less than three years old increased by 53% – more than 95 thousand.
In January, the market volume of new domestic cars amounted to about 41 thousand cars, which is 16% more than in the first month of 2023 – 35 thousand. Sales of passenger commercial vehicles also increased – 7 thousand (45%) and trucks – 7 thousand cars (10%). However, in January 2024, bus sales fell. 1,171 cars were sold, which is 16% lower than last year’s result.
The electric vehicle market in Russia increased by a record 286% in January compared to 2023 figures. In January, 1.5 thousand electric vehicles were sold, and in January 2023, only 419 cars.
