A solid age does not prevent Raymond Pauls from maintaining creative activity. The maestro regularly gives concerts that are in great demand. The composer also spent the evening of August 4 among his fans without canceling the concert, despite all the sad circumstances.

Tickets for the maestro’s performance in Jurmala were sold out long before the date of the concert. As MK managed to find out, immediately after the news of the death of the composer’s wife, there were rumors that the performance would be cancelled. “Those who don’t know the maestro very well might think so,” one of those who attended Pauls’ performance said in an interview with MK. “Raymond has an incredible sense of responsibility towards his audience, he just couldn’t undo anything.”

Already on the afternoon of August 4, the producers of the concert reported that all musicians were instructed to be at Dzintari and prepare for the performance. The maestro himself also arrived at the site without delay. Before his appearance on stage, the director of the hall, Guntar Kirsis, addressed the audience. He made a short speech about the value of human life and the inevitability of its decline. The appearance of Pauls on the stage was greeted by the hall standing and with a standing ovation.

The concert program presented by Raymond is called “Songs without Words”. Together with the chamber orchestra, the maestro performs jazz versions of his musicals and pop hits. Jazz is the composer’s old passion, and the new program where this music has also acquired a string sound has become a real gift for gourmets.

Among the famous songs transcribed to jazz standards were the popular hits “A Million Scarlet Roses” and “Maestro”. “This song brought me something, largely thanks to the singer, who is now resting in Latvia,” the composer said before the instrumental version of “Maestro” sounded, hinting, of course, at the Diva.

During the concert, Raymond announced each composition, sometimes simply naming it, sometimes accompanying it with his trademark cool irony. Everyone who filled the hall “Dzintari” well understood how difficult it was for Pauls to perform on such a sad day for him. However, the music to which he devoted almost his entire life, even in mourning, acted as a therapy for everyone. The famous composer left the stage to the cries of “Bravo!”.
