Oilmen discussed with the authorities the decrease in the profitability of gas stations

Oil companies discussed with regulators measures to increase the profitability of retail chains. This was told to Vedomosti by two sources in oil companies. According to the interlocutors, in November, the Ministry of Energy hosted a meeting on the situation on the retail fuel market, which was attended by representatives of large oil companies. “The ministry held discussions with interested oil companies on the issue of not worsening the financial and economic situation of retail chains and preventing fuel shortages in the domestic market,” one of the sources said.
He added that since the beginning of 2022, there has been a significant increase in the costs of retail sales organizations (gas stations). In the context of changes in the calculation of the damper for gasoline in the fall of 2022 and the planned reduction in payments under this mechanism from 2023, the level of refining margin will fall, which will make the work of individual sales facilities unprofitable, the source of Vedomosti notes. The second source claims that “many gas stations are already operating at almost zero profitability.”
