In 2022, the number of Yandex employees who work from international hubs has almost tripled compared to 2021 and exceeded 1.7 thousand people. This is approximately 8% of all employees of the company. The data of the parent company Yandex NV leads RBC.
The total increase in staff for the year amounted to 16% (in total, the company employs 20.9 thousand people). At the same time, this figure does not include Yandex employees who work part-time.
Yelena Bunina, former CEO of Yandex, told The New York Times in the middle of the year that 2,500 employees of the company worked from other countries.
However, it should be borne in mind that Yandex is also developing business in the CIS countries (search service), in Africa, European countries, the UAE – Yango taxis, in Turkey – search and navigation. As Aleksey Zakharov, head of the Superjob service, told RBC, it is easier for Yandex to hire employees from Russia to work in other countries, since the company has high requirements for developers.
According to the Russian government, the demand for IT personnel has increased by 63% compared to 2022. In addition, as analysts note, the term for searching for candidates for vacancies in the IT field has grown more than the average for the market.
