Novak instructed to ban the sale of only premium fuel at gas stations

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that he has ordered that premium fuel be allowed to be sold at gas stations only if standard fuel is available. According to him, high gasoline prices are observed at gas stations that sell exclusively premium fuel.
“Therefore, I instructed that changes be prepared to the regulatory framework establishing requirements at gas stations to sell premium fuel only if standard fuel is available, so that people have a choice,” said the Deputy Prime Minister on the sidelines of the international exhibition and forum “Russia” (quoted from TASS).
October 28 Mr. Novak statedthat some gas stations keep prices much higher because they sell only branded fuel with the prefixes “ecto” or “euro”.
In the summer, a fuel crisis began in Russia. Over the past months, the cost of fuel on the stock exchange has been continuously growing and reached a historical peak in September: 70 thousand rubles. per ton AI-92 and 76 thousand rubles. per ton AI-95.
As part of the fight against rising fuel prices, the authorities banned the export of gasoline and diesel on September 21. On October 9, Mr. Novak announced a partial lifting of the ban on the export of petroleum products. By mid-October prices had stabilized. Wholesale gasoline prices continued to fall at the end of October.
The cost of wholesale quantities of AI-92 gasoline in the European part of Russia on October 30 decreased by 1.9%, to 49.4 thousand rubles. per ton, follows from the data on St. Petersburg International Trading Exchange. AI-95 gasoline fell in price by 1.61%, to 53.6 thousand rubles. per ton. Quotes reached such levels for the first time since the end of April.
