Russia and China are switching to paying for energy supplies in rubles and yuan, gas is already being supplied on a parity basis in national currencies, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak said, transmits TASS.

“We are switching to settlements in national currencies – both in rubles and in yuan – for the supplied energy resources, mutual settlements, which also take place for the supply of equipment from China. As an example, today gas supplies between Gazprom and the People’s Republic of China are carried out on a parity basis in rubles and yuan,” he said.

Supplies of oil and oil products are also being actively transferred to payment in national currencies, Novak added.

Novak also spoke about the signing by Gazprom and Chinese CNPC of an agreement on the supply of another 10 billion cubic meters via the Far East route. m of gas.

“In the near future we must reach the signing of an intergovernmental agreement, this is the project that will be in the future,” said he.

Negotiations on the implementation of the gas supply project through Power of Siberia 2 are ongoing, Novak added.

Earlier in September, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia and China would use the ruble and yuan in equal proportions when paying for gas. The head of state noted then that the country is trying to get away from settlements in an unfriendly currency against the backdrop of a loss of confidence in the dollar.
