The Norwegian government has given permission to develop 19 oil and gas fields. About this on Wednesday, June 28, declared Norwegian minister of oil and energy Terje Osland at a press conference. The total investment in these projects will exceed NOK 200 billion ($18.5 billion). Among the approved projects, nine will be managed by the Norwegian energy company Aker, three also by the Norwegian Equinor, and the rest by the German Wintershall Dea and the Austrian OMV.
“These projects will contribute to the maintenance of high and stable production on the Norwegian continental shelf, as well as to the creation of jobs and added value,” said Mr. Osland. “These projects are also an important contribution to European energy security.” The development of new projects is part of Norway’s plans to increase oil and gas production in the next decade. Last year, after a sharp reduction in gas supplies from Russia, Norway came out on top in terms of gas supplies to European countries. Norway predicts that oil production will grow by 15% in 2023.
