The Finnish manufacturer of telecommunications equipment Nokia has decided to finally leave the Russian market, transmits Reuters, citing a company representative.
“By the end of the year, the vast majority of our employees in Russia will leave Nokia and we will vacate all of our offices,” a company spokesperson told the agency, adding that Nokia’s official presence in the country would continue until the legal closure was completed.
Nokia, which has about 2,000 employees in Russia, also said its remaining operations in the country involved limited maintenance of critical networks to fulfill its contractual and humanitarian obligations.
After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine due to sanctions, the largest telecommunications companies announced their withdrawal from the Russian market and the termination of equipment supplies to the country. Among them were Nokia and Ericsson. Nokia previously said it would “make efforts to continue supporting equipment that runs on networks.” At the same time, work in Russia still continues Huawei.
