Japanese car manufacturer Nissan plans to begin delivering four new electric vehicle models to the Chinese market by 2026. The plans were announced by the head of the company, Makoto Uchida, reports Interfax.
Nissan intends to create its first plug-in hybrid (PHEV), as well as fully electric models. All developments will be carried out by the automaker’s Chinese research center. The company promises to release one of the models in the second half of 2024.
Nissan plans to supply about 100,000 vehicles to China, including new products, from 2025.
On July 28, Japan introduced a ban on the export to Russia of new and used gasoline and diesel cars with an engine capacity of over 1.9 liters, as well as electric vehicles and hybrid cars. If in June Vladivostok customs recorded about 30,000 cars from Japan, then in September the figure dropped to 8,000.
In May 2022, Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida stated about the suspension of the plant in St. Petersburg. The company assembled SUVs Qashqai, X-Trail and Murano. A full restart of the plant and mass production of domestic cars under the leadership of AvtoVAZ is expected in 2024. Since June 17, only the Lada X-Cross 5 has been produced at the plant.
