Nikkei: Mazda may stop production in Russia

Japanese automaker Mazda is considering ending production in Russia due to supply chain disruptions that make it difficult to resume operations, according to the publication. Nikkei. Previously, production was suspended, but the automaker has not yet decided to stop sales or maintenance.

Mazda manufactures vehicles in a joint venture with local automaker Sollers in Vladivostok. According to the research company MarkLines, cited by Nikkei, in 2021, the plant produced approximately 29,000 vehicles.

On September 23, another Japanese automaker, Toyota, announced the closure of a plant in Russia. After the start of the military operation, many foreign automakers suspended their business in the Russian Federation.
