NBKI: the average amount of consumer credit in April reached a record high

By data National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI), in April, the average amount of consumer loans issued (loans for the purchase of consumer goods) amounted to a record 328.5 thousand rubles. Compared to the previous month, it increased by 4.3%. At the same time, compared to April 2022, the average check doubled. Such a radical annual increase is associated with a drop in the indicator in March-April last year, which was the result of a market shock reaction to sanctions pressure. NBKI experts note that the growth of the average check in the last three months is largely due to the fact that, despite the conservative lending policy, banks are ready to issue larger amounts to “quality” borrowers.
Earlier, the NBKI also reported that the number of consumer loans issued in April compared to March decreased by 2.4%, to 1.07 million, and increased by 77.4% year-on-year.
