Soviet and Ukrainian singer, People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR Nina Matvienko died at the age of 76, reports the Ukrainian publication “Public. News”. The cause of the artist’s death is not disclosed.
Nina Matvienko was born in 1947. The singer did not live two days before her 76th birthday. Nina Matvienko performed Ukrainian folk songs and folk. The most famous are “Oh, the Wild Geese Are Flying” and “Lullaby.” The singer also starred in several films. She played the role of Valya in the film “How the Steel Was Tempered.”
In 1985, Mrs. Matvienko received the title of People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR, in 1988 she became a laureate of the State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR. T. G. Shevchenko. In 2006 she received the title of Hero of Ukraine.
