Emir Kusturica plans to film the novel “Laurel” by Yevgeny Vodolazkin. According to the Film Distributor’s Bulletin, the Serbian director and Russian writer will meet on October 20 in Yasnaya Polyana to discuss the details of the project. The novel “Laurel” refers to the life of medieval Rus’ in the 15th-16th centuries. The main character of the work, the herbalist Arseny, has the gift of healing. After the death of his secret lover, he goes as a pilgrim to Jerusalem and becomes a monk, choosing the name Laurus.
