National Lottery tickets will be sold in the Pyaterochka network

The National Lottery has entered into an agreement with X5 Group, under which the operator’s tickets will be presented in the Pyaterochka chain of stores (20 thousand points), a company representative told Kommersant. In the future, he added, it is planned to launch ticket sales throughout the entire X5 network (Perekrestok and Karusel hypermarkets).

Since July 2014, only state lotteries have been allowed in the Russian Federation; the organizers are the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Finance. JSC GSL (“State Lotteries”) is the operator of the lottery of the Ministry of Sports, LLC “Sportloto” is the operator of the Ministry of Finance. The largest distributor of tickets is TK Center JSC (Stoloto brand), all three are controlled by Armen Sargsyan’s S8 Capital holding. In 2022, the total revenue of Sportloto and GSL, according to Kartoteka.ruamounted to about 69.1 billion rubles.

In 2020, another operator appeared on the market – Sports Lotteries LLC, which distributes the National Lottery organized by the Ministry of Finance (49% from VTB structures, 51% from the President of the International Boxing Federation Umar Kremlev). The LLC’s revenue in 2021 amounted to 52.3 million rubles, data for 2022 in Kartoteka.ru are missing.

Since September 1 last year, Stoloto tickets have ceased to be sold in more than 40 thousand branches of Russian Post (see Kommersant of September 13, 2022). The decision, according to Kommersant, was made in the interests of Stoloto’s competitor, the National Lottery. At the same time, Stoloto’s share of post offices at points of sale was about 36% (the company did not disclose its share in sales volume). Since May 10 of this year, Stoloto has ceased to be sold in Pyaterochka.

Stoloto told Kommersant that tickets are sold at more than 32 thousand points of sale, including MTS communication stores, Lenta, O’KEY, Vinlab, Fix Price, Bristol, and Krasnoye stores and White”, Globus. “Today, about 70% of all lottery tickets distributed by Stoloto are sold online – through a mobile application and website,” added a company representative.
