Musk began looking for new Twitter employees after cutting two-thirds of the staff

The American entrepreneur, the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, announced at a meeting with the company’s employees that he began hiring new employees after laying off about two-thirds of the workers. According to Business Insider, Musk plans to start hiring new employees, primarily engineers, whose number has halved since the Twitter purchase. However, there are currently no job openings on the company’s website, The Verge reported. In addition, Musk plans to recruit employees in the sales department, which also lost almost all of its leaders.

Musk closed the $44 billion acquisition of Twitter on October 27. After that, he made a number of personnel changes. November 16 he put forward a new ultimatum to the company’s employees: he suggested that they start working “intensively” or quit. Since then, hundreds of employees decided leave the company. Musk was forced to relax the requirement to be in the office.

In his first letter to employees, Musk warned about “the difficult times ahead” and announced a ban on remote work. He stressed the impact of the economic outlook on a company as dependent on advertising revenue as Twitter. As part of the new rules, employees must be in the office for at least 40 hours a week. Musk will only make exceptions in special cases.

After that, Twitter employees amounted to an open letter to company management demanding an end to “reckless threats of termination” and calling Musk’s plan “reckless” and “a clear act of employee intimidation.” They also appealed to the entrepreneur with a demand to take on the obligation to maintain the size of the company and respect the rights and benefits of employees.
