MTS agreed to cancel the fee for unlimited distribution of mobile Internet

Telecom operator MTS will cancel the fee for unlimited Internet distribution from smartphones. MTS was the last company among the four largest telecom operators that decided to introduce unlimited distribution of mobile Internet. Previously, MegaFon, Beeline and Tele2 agreed to a similar step at the request of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS).
“In order to create the most comfortable conditions for mobile Internet consumption for MTS subscribers, MTS is canceling the fee for distributing traffic from smartphones to other devices on tariffs with prepaid traffic packages,” the operator said (Kommersant has the press release). MTS clarified that due to “technical features of the distribution implementation,” it may take some time to cancel the fee.
In the summer, subscribers of the Big Four operators – MTS, MegaFon, Beeline and Tele2 – complained that the unlimited mobile Internet distribution service had become paid. FAS called this practice unlawful and threatened operators in cases of violation of antimonopoly legislation.
October 30 FAS reportedthat MegaFon, Beeline and Tele2 agreed to cancel the fee for Internet distribution. MTS explained refusal to make the service free due to the absence of restrictions for a number of users who use the mobile network for torrents and streaming. The operator then indicated that this could lead to a deterioration in the quality of communication for most subscribers.
