Motorways fully equipped with electric terminals by 2023

The dealers are working hard to get there. But the economic equation is complicated.
Motorway concessionaires are accelerating the deployment of charging stations for electric vehicles at the 364 service areas in France. All areas with service stations will be equipped with at least one charging point by the end of 2022 on the APRR and Area networks (Eiffage-Macquarie); and by the end of 2023, for those of Vinci Autoroutes. A group that shares more than 90% of motorway France.
“109 of our areas out of 180 are equipped to date. During 2023, there will be an average of 7 to 8 terminals per service area compared to 3 to 4 in the spaces currently equipped”, explains Louis du Pasquier, responsible for the deployment of charging stations at Vinci Autoroutes, the largest concessionaire in France. At the end of August, the operator launched a call for concessions for a period of fifteen years on four motorway service areas.
