Moscow Metro to receive 500 new carriages by 2025

Transmashholding will supply the Moscow metro with more than 500 new cars of the Moscow-2020 series in 2024-2025. This was reported on the website of the capital’s mayor. The new cars will have a different interior design and driver’s cab, and modern chargers will appear. The entrance for passengers with limited mobility will be more convenient.
“The Moscow Metro and Transmashholding signed an additional agreement to the current three-year contract for the supply of carriages of the Moscow-2020 series trains, extending cooperation for another two years… The Metro will receive more than 500 new carriages from 2024 to 2025 inclusive”, – says in message. The new carriages will also be delivered to the Bolshaya Koltsevaya Line, which will be finally opened to traffic in 2023.
Prior to this, Transmashholding and the Moscow metro signed a contract for the supply of new cars for 2020-2023. It was assumed that under this contract, the metro of the capital will receive more than 1.3 thousand new cars. Now the holding’s Mytishchi plant has produced more than 900 railcars for the capital. Of these, 896 are for Moscow-2020 trains, 24 cars are for Moscow trains. Since 2010, the Moscow Metro has received over 4,000 new cars. Their fleet has already been updated by 70%.
