The new film is dedicated to a no less scandalous topic – sex services in Moscow – and was shot by order of the Kion platform, which is trying to entertain the viewer in the most unsettling times with the most artisanal methods. A year ago, a fictional series with the same title was already airing on Kion. Pavel Priluchny played the main role there – and this fact alone draws a negative review. There are no bad actors in Csepel’s documentary version, only unfortunate people who are forced to answer rare and rather meaningless questions from an off-screen interviewer who was afraid to show his face, apparently guessing in advance that he was taking part in a monstrous hack.

Rodion Chepel is not only a director himself, but also the founder of the Amur Waves studio, which is responsible for the spectacular failures in the field of documentary filmmaking in recent years. How many tears were shed through fits of laughter over the “Russian Holidays of Natalia Vodianova”, who took her offspring shortly before the NWO to walk along the fields of Russia with ears of golden rye. Or over “Edik” about the writer Eduard Uspensky, embodied on the screen as an absurd, unexpectedly open-minded doll.

As it turned out, walking in the fields in Russia is not your life in the Russian Federation, which, in fact, is what the heroines of Chepel’s fresh opus are talking about. True, the colors do not thicken immediately. First, flying around Moscow City, like a drone, the camera slowly and gently admires the capital. Everything glitters, everything flashes, expensive foreign cars rush along the business arteries, a clockwork beat grows from afar – causing an instant desire to accuse Chepel of complete deafness to the spirit of the times. Does he have 2023 on timecode? Was he filming for Kion, or maybe for a shriveled international tourism ministry? But no, that’s right, this is how the artist sees and feels the surrounding reality, then turning it into “fascinating and beautiful films” (the motto of “Amur Waves”). From the urban splendor, from the foam of damned days, the subject of research finally appears – Masha doll, Dasha doll, all in full dress, someone is spinning on a pole, sparkling stiletto, someone is sitting on satin sofas, erotically scratching her hair. Meanwhile, the shooting style is becoming completely puberty, evolving towards the early Timati, which, of course, is unbearable, but out of politeness it can be assumed that Chepel still had a concept according to which he shows girls not as they look, but as they are. would like to appear. Therefore, bad taste is declared eccentricity, vulgarity luxury, and idiocy naivety.

Both Masha and Dasha seem to be satisfied with their glossy life. Among their clients are all interesting, well-groomed men, who politely leave generous tips above the price list. “Sucked? – conditional Masha parodies the philistine condemnation with a challenge. – And you try, suck it up. Well, and other pearls, designed to emphasize the cynicism of the CAO predators, who prefer to settle either on Kutuzovsky or in the notorious City with the prospect of one day repeating the path of Julia Roberts and moving to Nikolina Gora.

What did the author explore besides his clichés? Where is the life in Life on Call? Probably, only the head of the Kion platform, Igor Mishin, knows this, since he took this product for sale. The only interesting information is the story about blackmailing girls by the administrators of the Skins Market Telegram channel (who, by the way, have just been arrested for extortion). The only living word is an episode in which one of the respondents reports that a client she liked, a military man from Australia, rolled spaghetti on her finger at dinner. “Well, isn’t this a sign of great love?” she asks the camera tired of flying. Sign. Spaghetti on the finger, noodles instead of a documentary project on the ears – always a sign.
