By the end of 2023, more than 2 thousand Moskvich 3e electric vehicles will be sold, said KamAZ CEO Sergei Kogogin on the sidelines of the VTB forum “Russia Calling!” His expectations “were higher.”
“If I say whether I’m satisfied with the sales result: well, let’s say, our expectations were probably higher. The main problem is that we only received the right to a subsidy for electric cars in the fourth quarter,” Mr. Kogogin told reporters.
In the press service of Moskvich TASS clarified that since the start of sales in March 2023, more than 13 thousand cars have been sold, including about 1.4 thousand electric vehicles.
The Moskvich automobile plant operates on the basis of the former Renault Russia plant. The French automaker Renault handed it over to the Moscow government in May 2022 after leaving Russia. Now 50% belongs to KamAZ. The city crossover “Moskvich 3”, the electric car “Moskvich 3e” and the sedan “Moskvich 6” are produced. All of them are converted versions of Chinese cars.
