Deductions for the use of foreign software by copyright holders who left Russia, the introduction of which has been discussed since last year, are planned to be used for grants and preferential loans to Russian developers, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said. According to him, the amount of deductions is planned to be divided equally between these support measures.

“We are considering an initiative that introduces mandatory fees for the use of foreign software. Half of this amount will be directed to grant support for Russian IT companies, and the second part will form the collateral for their preferential lending,” said Mr. Mishustin during the plenary session at the conference “Digital Industry of Industrial Russia”.

The mechanism of legalization of use of software from the left vendors in April was presented by the head of Mintsifra Maksut Shadayev. He said that, first of all, we are talking about specialized software, which has no analogues in Russia yet. The fact that 50% of the funds transferred to special accounts are planned to be directed to finance loans and to the Russian IT support fund was reported in May Vedomosti with reference to sources.

More about the initiative – in the material “Kommersant” “The software was offered to mature”.
