Russian Ambassador to Turkey Aleksey Yerkhov said that the owners of Turkish hotels discussed the possibility of settling Russian and Ukrainian tourists. However, according to him, this measure was abandoned. Mr. Yerkhov himself explained this decision by a small number of conflicts between tourists from Russia and Ukraine.

“From time to time in social networks you meet references to certain conflict situations that our tourists have with vacationers from Ukraine, Poland and other countries. According to some reports, before the start of the current season, the Turkish business was weighing the advisability of introducing some kind of “segregation” for hotels, but it was decided not to put such an option into practice,” he said in an interview. Aleksey Yerkhov believes that the decision not to separate Russian and Ukrainian tourists was made because last season the number of conflicts between them was small. The Turkish side is counting on the consciousness of travelers that they will come to the country “to relax, not to rowdy,” he said.

However, the head of the Russian diplomatic mission stressed that in case of illegal actions against tourists, they need to contact law enforcement agencies and the consulate general. “And idle talk “can’t be sewn into the case.” At the same time, of course, you need to behave with dignity, not succumb to provocations, not stoop to hooliganism,” concluded Mr. Yerkhov.
