On the Venezuelan island of Margarita, a start has been made to accept payments using Mir cards, said Russian Ambassador to Venezuela Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov. According to him, in Caracas, this issue is being worked out in a test mode and “relevant specialists are working in this direction.”
“On the island of Margarita, which is ready to receive and accepts Russian tourists, it has, in fact, already started accepting payments,” the ambassador told TASS in response to a question about the prospects for expanding the acceptance of Mir cards in Venezuela. The diplomat did not name specific dates.
At the end of June, the press service of the Mir system reportedthat her cards began to be accepted at the terminals of trade and service enterprises in Venezuela. Central Bank said, which plans to bring Mir cards to five or six new countries this year. Mir cards are also accepted by partner banks in Abkhazia, Armenia, Belarus, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and South Ossetia.
